I wanted to write a song about the healing process that we all go through after experiencing heartbreak. Whether it’s a relationship that goes bad or a death or a battle with a disease or any other situation that brings on a form of heartache, there is a time of realization of pain and discomfort before we reach the point at which we are able to move on from it. Before we are able to get on the other side of it.
“There ain’t no shortcut over this heartbreak” … it’s true, isn’t it? We can’t deal with our pain if we don’t accept it first. We can’t live fully in the present if we don’t have closure from the past.
“It’s a mountain I’ve gotta climb” … deep heartache isn’t something that just goes away overnight. It invades your life. It becomes a giant obstacle in the way of your everyday living until you decide to face it.
“It’s what I’ll have to do if I’m gonna survive on the other side” … we have to find a way SOMEHOW to overcome the mountains in our lives. We have to work through the heartbreak in order to move forward and continue living in happiness.
Here is a sneak peak of the song I wrote with Pat Terry last week. The title is “On The Other Side”. Remember it’s a DEMO!!! :-)
Hope you enjoy!
